Independent Photographers Festival.
A couple of photos I took while traveling through Cuba some years ago are showing at the inaugural Independent Photographers Festival here in Melbourne at Tinning Street Gallery, in Brunswick from April 2 – 8. Here are some shots from the packed out opening night, plus close ups of the actual photos. If you’re about, go check out the festival – there’s plenty of things to see, including solo and group exhibitions, a film premiere screening and photo book & zine fair.

Loved the forest image too!
I am thrilled to share the news that my illustration At the Taj has been selected for the 8th edition in the CURVY book series!
Since 2003, Curvy has showcased female artists from over 40 different countries in the form of an annual book and series of exhibitions. Curvy to this day is a best-selling publication and cult success, internationally. From the Curvy website:
Over 1,100 artists from 47 countries have put work forward this year – it was without a doubt the highest calibre of entries we have seen in the eight years since CURVY was born – and the artists that didn’t make it could easily have fuelled two or three more books.
At the Taj is drawn from travels through India and originally formed part of my 100 drawings, 100 days project. With a two week time frame for Curvy submissions I decided to polish the drawing into it’s current more illustrative form and submitted it, with all my fingers and toes crossed!
Feeling incredibly lucky to have my work sitting alongside some crazy-amazing talented ladies, I’m looking forward to the launch coinciding with Semi-Permanent, an awe-inspiring conference for creatives held in major cities across Australia. CURVY 8 launches at the Sydney Semi-Permanent on Wednesday May 9th, 2012 and will travel to both Brisbane and Melbourne later in the year.
